Byng Systems are looking for a talented developer to join our exciting and growing team in Shoreditch, London. We build advanced web applications and create our own products that are used by both the private and public sectors, securing new licensing deals regularly. We build PHP5 and Node.js applications for clients such as intranets, portals and other information management systems. These systems are business critical and have a direct impact on the clients work flows and overall business. We also work with some of the big brand advertising agencies, building systems for their clients.

Please note, candidates must clearly state no. of years PHP5 and JavaScript experience first, followed by required salary, availability to work (when you can start) and confirm eligibility to work in the EU.

We are looking for a passionate coder that is a master of Zend or Symfony supported with 3+ years PHP (with good OOP and ORM) skills. The candidate should be a logical thinker and a good problem solver, able to see the shortest and best route to achieving the desired objectives. They will need to fit in to a talented team of the highest calibre people who work and play well together. We are a team of 14 but growing steadily in the heart of the London Shoreditch area.  Any Agency experience is very welcome.

You will be able to make a real difference to the team and the business by sharing knowledge and making suggestions for continuous improvement. We are interested in learning and improving and everyone adds something to the mix. Currently we are a team of 14 and have been around for 5 years.

You’ll be responsible for architecting websites and slick web applications from the ground up, making decisions on which technology we use and sharing knowledge with the team. You will devise Quality Assurance techniques using PHP Unit and other functional testing technologies. We are looking for someone with a logical but creative spark. You’ll be working on continuous integration projects and performing code reviews to ensure the highest possible quality of code.  We are big on using open sources technologies to their maximum effect and occasionally contributing back!

We have several projects on at the moment, including one for profiling system endorsed by the British Olympic Association, established big brands as well as entrepreneurial start ups.

• Creating object models using configured database schemas and entity descriptions
• Architecting APIs to manipulate the model, using use cases as guides
• Devising database schemas and object maps
• Ability to quality assurance work of junior developers and communicate ideas and concepts to other members of the development team
• Unit testing experience and experience with other QA methodologies is also necessary to some level.
• Any web based business applications experience, working with creative agencies and competence with JavaScript is a real bonus.
• All projects are well project managed with  in-house project managers using Jira and Fogbugz and agile methodologies

Salary £26 - 50k depending on experience, flexible working times and amazing office/location. A 10% discretionary bonus scheme and private healthcare is included. We run quarterly events such as go karting, nights out, hack-a-thons and other fun social events.
